Venice

The

atmospheres

“Walking through the foggy urban spaces, I can almost do the impossible, to be alone in Venice. People come into sight, and the go, and there are moments when no one is to be seen. In Piazza San Marco, as it gets darker, I experience the magical moment where the sky is almost dark, but the lights are still off. The podium where the musicians should be performing glows, a dim yellow light. That is all, the blue hour at it’s best.

Then, all of a sudden the lights decide to take part in the story which is surrounding me. They surround me coming from the three sides of the piazza, but I cannot perceive any building. Only lights coming from every direction, as if they are looking at me. I look back, alone, I am eager to ask them about all they have seen happening here. But they won’t speak a word, they continue observing in the same quiet manner, as they have done for decades, ignoring the always present human curiosity.”
