ΚΟΥΛΟΥΡΗΣ studio is a space for visual expression through photography, specializing in urbanography, landscape and architectural photography, focusing on spaces and light. The finger pressing the camera shutter button belongs to Spyros Koulouris, an architect and urbanist, currently based in Germany and Greece. His photography roots in his perception of light, geometry, and materiality, which were greatly influenced by his growing up in Greece and his origins in the Cycladic and Ionian Islands. Through his everyday life, Spyros has experienced the effects of light and atmospheric conditions on both simple and complex geometries, from the humblest stonehouse perched on a Cycladic cliff and the austere presence of ancient doric structures, to the urban complexity of modern Athens and other European cities. Through his professional pursuits in architecture and urbanism, new stimuli have been injected into his photography, introducing themes of academic and conceptual depth. His imagery serves as both a personal exploration of new perspectives and a critical reflection on past experiences. Each photograph invites the viewer into a dialogue between form and light, memory and discovery, structure and space.
